Seeds of Spring: A Woman’s 40 Day Devotional

Day 25
Planting and Tending Your Garden
SEED OF TRUTH
Read Ephesians 5:1-2.
This is one of my favorite Bible passages. I love its simplicity. Humbly bow before the Lord and ask Him to bring this truth to bear in your heart, your mind, and your life. Allow Him to do whatever it takes to grant you the ability to walk in love as His beloved child. Take time right now to pray, using this passage as a guide.
“Lord, I do not want to follow after my own devices and desires. I do not want to go my own way or the way of the world around me. It is so hard when everyone around me is gossiping, judging, or focused on earthly things. I need your help. I want to be like you. I want to imitate you as your beloved child. I want to walk in love as Jesus did, loving you and others more than Himself. Lord, help me walk in love just as Jesus loved me and gave Himself up for me (Galatians 2:20).”
PLANT THE SEED
Quietly recite today’s focus verse to yourself. Hide it in your heart and meditate on it throughout the day.
Ephesians 5:2
“And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
WATER THE SEED
We are asked to demonstrate our love, as Christ demonstrated His love, and offer ourselves as a sacrifice – a living sacrifice, according to Romans 12:1. Have you done this? Will you do this today? And if not today, will you make it a part of your prayers from this point forth until you do? Don’t put it off for long. Remember, God has given you everything you need in Christ to do what He commands. This is not only a command, but it is the example that Jesus and Paul set before us. If we want a lesson in love we must cast our gaze upon the cross of Christ (1 John 4:10-11). The command is not for the spiritually “elite,” because there is no spiritual elite. We either obey or we don’t. (1 Corinthians 13 is a helpful tool to examine your heart.)
BEAR THE FRUIT
Love as Christ loved us.
CLOSE IN PRAYER
Ask the Lord to bring to life all that has been planted in your heart today.

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

ISIS would have you believe they speak God’s word

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.  Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James 1:26‭-‬27 KJV

http://bible.com/1/jas.1.26-27.KJV
“Isis say they speak for all Muslims”, but they don’t. The first people kill by Isis was Muslims. I’ve  listen to my pastor and others who say Islam is an evil religion, however the same can be said about Christianity or Judaism. One thing I have notice is simply this, you have a few thousand miss guided people who are angry with there own lives, that they have convince themselves that all the problems that they are experiencing are the fault of the United States. Instead of looking to God who knows all and see all, they want to destroy all that is right with the world. They manage to high jack a religious faith while those who practice this religion do not fight back.

I’m trying to understand how you can have 1.6 billion people practice Islamic faith as well as 2.3 billion Christians faith and 4.5 million Judaism faith, and between all of our religions  we are having one heck of a time trying to rid ourselves of a few thousand who has terrorized the entire world. Exactly what part have I missed?

There is something I have notice though 1933 the rise of Hitler, people believed his garbage and he caused WWII. Is Isis trying to do the same? I was reading Revelation today and God was speaking to me, none of it good.

Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.  John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 1:2‭-‬6 KJV

http://bible.com/1/rev.1.2-6.KJV

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.   I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.  I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.  I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,  Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.  And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;  And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.  His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;  And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.  And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.  And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:   I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.   Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;   The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

Revelation 1:7‭-‬20 KJV

My Lord and Savior tells me hell on earth has come but it will get worse as he has told it so long ago. Heed my words children of God get right now, the time is at hand.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.   But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.   Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Unshakeable Moms

Please forgive me I was suppose to have this posted yesterday. Been under the weather as of last. Happy Mother’s day to the worlds mothers. We have a job God has gifted us with, one of pride and joy. Thank you Jesus for a beautiful gift.

“Sure Foundation”

Insecurity is probably the worst feeling in the world. It robs you of confidence, rest, and freedom. Just talking about the word floods my mind with so many memories. Being a little girl, afraid of the dark, peeking my eyes just above the covers to see if there really was a monster in my room. As a new kid at school, not knowing a soul, wondering if I would ever find a friend. Auditioning for a musical, nervous and afraid I would forget song lyrics. Picking an outfit for a date, hoping to impress and hold his interest. The day we purchased our first home, wondering if we were grownup enough to handle the responsibility. The way I felt the day we brought home our first baby, and the overwhelming reality that we were responsible for his very life. Each of those moments all caused me to feel unsure, and creating a deep desire for something solid to stand on and keep me steady no matter what.

So often, I set my feet upon my circumstances. It’s easy to do, because we naturally make agreements with what we can touch and see. For example: If our child has behavior problems in school, it would be easy to then label him a problem child or yourself a bad mom. If a dream falls apart, it would be natural to feel lost and lose sight of your identity. But we’re not called to live by human nature. We are called to walk by the Spirit, and in order to do that we have to stand on a sure foundation. One that’s been tested and approved. One we know won’t ever be shaken by the quaking and shifting of life. If we stand on what we can see with human eyes, we will constantly shift with an ever changing world. That’s not a life anchored in Jesus. In fact, the bible calls that childish. We are called to grow up into Christ in all things. He is the security we are called to build our lives upon.

What are you standing on today? What are you building your life upon? When the world is afraid of the dark, hiding under the covers, you can be unshakable; shining like a beacon in the night. You can walk through uncertain days because He is your sure foundation.

Isaiah 28:16

16Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

“Refueling”

Every summer we take a vacation with our family. Every mom know that “family” and “vacation” are two words that should never go together, right? Once you become a parent, a vacation is hard work. But some of the sweetest memories come out of those exhausting vacation days together as a family, refueling and refreshing your souls to dig back into life together.

When I vacation – I realize a major clash between our culture’s version of rest and Jesus’ version of it. We are so prone to run to anything and everything BUT Christ for our refreshment. We spend our R&R laying by the pool (or chasing our kids around the pool with a bottle of sunscreen and yelling “please stop running!” for the thousandth time), watching movies, shopping and spending outrageous amounts of money on theme parks. During Jesus’ earthly ministry His rest looked quite a bit different. The Bible talks about how Jesus would get away and rise early to pray and spend time alone with His father.

Not that there is anything wrong with those fun things, but what if we escaped the mindset that we NEEDED those worldly indulgences to feel refueled? What if we stopped giving in to the whispers that tell us “it’s ok, you deserve it!”? Jesus carried more weight on his shoulders than any of us can ever imagine. Did He run to Starbucks or his chocolate stash at the end of a long day because that was the only way He could get by? No, He ran to the arms of his father. We can learn a lot from His example of where our refueling comes from. And get in line behind my friends, because I hold my chocolate stash very dear to my heart.

Whenever we are in need of refueling this week, let’s turn to the source. The source that keeps us unshakable through anything. I find that when I say no to personal indulgences to say yes to Him, I find all the strength I need. Psalm 16:11 says it so well: “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever”. May you find your refueling and refreshment in Him alone, sisters!

Psalms 16:11

11Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

“Blueprint”

We just bought a old 1930’s cabin in the woods. It’s a major fixer upper and in need of a lot of TLC. Thankfully, my husband is extremely handy. He can fix just about anything, make just about anything, and solve just about any problem that we’ve encountered with our vintage abode. We had confidence going into this remodel because we knew the house had been built well and right. Not only does it have a strong foundation, but it also has great bones. It’s made from sturdy and strong materials that have stood the test of 8 decades. In fact, some of the wood used to build its structure is so hard, we’ve struggled to hammer even the most heavy duty nails. It is solid, to say the least.

A firm foundation is only the starting point. The builder, design, method, and materials used to build the house determine it’s ability to stand the test of time. Stop for a moment and ask yourself this: who is building your house? Not only is Jesus the sure foundation, but He’s also the expert builder and the cornerstone that holds the house together. He is the architect and has created the blueprint for an eternal dwelling. He is building a kingdom that will last forever, and He wants to build it in and through you.

In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul gives a warning to the church. “Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ. Take particular care in picking out your building materials. Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you’ll be found out.” Paul is telling us that anything but Jesus will be swallowed up in the storms of life. Even the most beautiful decor can’t hide shoddy construction. Eventually, time will tell.

Don’t we all desire to be confident mothers? No fear of the future, and no worry about how to get there. No concern over provision. No restless nights wondering if all you’ve built will crumble under the weight of the world. There is freedom for you right now. If you want to be an unshakable, joyful, kingdom building mom, you need only follow Jesus. He is the expert, and He’s already carried the burden upon His shoulders. Breathe deeply of His grace today and walk confidently knowing He is building something incredible in you.

Psalms 127:1-3

1Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
3Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Fall from heaven

And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads. And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord God , wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan! O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies! For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

Do Not make God Turn His Back on Us

image

O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.  Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.  Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.  Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.  That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.  God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.  Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;  Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.  Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?  Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?  Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.  Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
Psalms 60:1-12 KJV

Will we be the cause of God turning his back on us?  We have a duty to teach all Nations as instructed, we have not done so. Or should this be our fate? Are we not worthy of better? Do we not deserve to spend eternity with our Savior?

Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.  For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.  Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:  And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.  A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.  For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.  Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.  He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.  The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.  If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.  If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;  If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?  My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:  So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.  Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:  For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.  Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:  Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.  Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;  For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.  My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:  For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?  These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.  He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:  But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.  Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.  Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.  Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.  Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.  I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;  And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.  Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.  Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:  So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
